Pros

Retirement benefits Vacation Days Non Profit/Feel Good Mission

Cons

I was so excited to be offered a position at The College Board and I could not be more shocked by the disengagement of employees, the antiquated approach to work, technology, and life balance, and the amount of rude managers that are on staff. My ED will literally roll her eyes at you if she disagrees with someone point. WHAT! They are very focused on the hours you put in and the face time you make which is ridiculous in a world that has opportunities for flex time, telecommuting, web based applications, and other resources.

Pros

None, did not enjoy my time.

Cons

There isn't anything about this company that isn't focused on greed and monopolizing the higher education system. Everything is sales-focused and less on actual education equity like their mission suggests. Bureaucracy is incredibly slow and tiring, management needs a lot of work, and little to no opportunity for growth unless you plan to be there 10+ years.

The cons outweigh the pros

Pros

Higher salaries compared to other education organizations. Great retirement match and benefits. Good amount of PTO. Good name to have on your resume. Most people are nice.

Cons

The expectation is to overwork. No transparency into how to get promoted. Job descriptions are unclear, as work just gets thrown at you anyway. You won't climb up the ladder unless you're one of the favorites. They say they care about diversity, but they don't do anything to recruit, promote, or retain people of color. Too much politics.
