Pros

A few nice colleagues and at a glance a good opportunity.

Cons

This is a review for Colliers - Southwest California region. It pains me to have to review the corporation as I have never been put in this position before. My time at Colliers has been nothing short of traumatizing. It is in my opinion a racist and abusive entity and in this day and age there should be no room for this. Nobody is above the law or better than anyone else.

Pros

You can work from home twice a week after 1 year. No micromanaging. Generous time off.

Cons

Nepotism- family and friends are often promoted/hired. It’s not what you know but who you know. Not an inclusive workplace. Not uncommon to overhear office gossip about other coworkers. Health insurance is expensive. Reasonably priced plans are high deductible plans.

Poor management, worse pay

Pros

There are Work-Life balance focused perks, such as occasional noon release Fridays (in addition to summer Fridays) and team bonding outings. I also loved my office culture and got along with all of my coworkers. It felt like a family.

Cons

My negative views of this company stem from two main issues; my manager and pay (which my manager likely influenced). Despite being with the company for two years, I made less than the other members of my team who, coincidentally or not, were male. I came with an analytic-intensive degree, a high gpa, built my role from the ground up, and created a process which optimized analysis for our team that was adopted by other offices. Despite all this, a few months before leaving, a new member of our team was hired straight out of college. Without negotiating, his starting salary was 10% higher than what I was making after two years at the company. In addition to the pay issue, I had many problems my manager as well. Early on in my time with the company, I took on larger projects that my manager would contribute to minimally. However, he would always add his name to the project. He would often tell me he would split the workload with me. He would go down a list, dividing up the tasks. However, he would come back to me, saying he couldn’t make it through his listed tasks and would put almost all the responsibility back on me. He would then become upset when I wasn’t able to meet his arbitrary deadlines. I was incredibly unhappy with my time in the company, but stayed due to limited job prospects during the pandemic.
