Pros

State retirement, good number of days off as holidays.

Cons

The current administration could not care less about employees. "Students first, no excuses" and employees be damned. Gee, if it were not for us, you'd have no students. Collin also chooses the "heir apparent" for promotions so if you are not in the circle of trust, forget moving up. Sad really.

Pros

Most of the staff is great. Time off and benefits are okay.

Cons

IT is a hostile environment. There is no upward mobility. Managers/supervisors are micromanagers that harass and bully the team. Most of the team has left but no reprimands to the manager even though HR and CIO involved before leaving Collin. Leadership is not responsive. No remote or hybrid options. There is no work/life balance. Asking for it is the mark of death. Management hates remote/hybrid but will ask you to do it for free on your day off. Low pay. If you are hourly and go into overtime hours management will try to bully you to not report the overtime hours. If you are exempt, management will schedule meetings during typical lunch hour but then harass you if you take a lunch outside the typical lunch hour. These are just a couple of examples of labor laws they violate. No training or professional development even though it is offered as a benefit. You get assigned a new task you don't know & told it's a chance to learn a new skill, so ask for training, guess what, that's denied. Instead you're told to figure it out on your own. Other benefits besides pay and insurance offered such as leave early for lunch or end of day to go to gym but it has to be with manager approval, but guess what, its not approved because its a micromanager.

Hostile work environment

Pros

Great benefits and time off.

Cons

Truly a very hostile work environment. I lasted through 2 years of the worst supervisor ever. Senior leadership plays favorites and no one else has a chance at promotion. They hire the "yes-men/women" and everyone is expected to do their job and keep their mouths shut. If you dare ask questions or make waves, they make you miserable. I've been harassed, bullied, and targeted and can't say anything about it because Leadership loves my boss.
