Pros

Great benefit, healthcare is paid for, lots of time off(1 sick day per month and 1 vacation day per month)

Cons

Very incompetent upper level leadership. They’ve hired over qualified/intelligent people in entry level and middle management roles but don’t let’s them take initiative and provide them autonomy to work to the best of their ability. So the staff is very burnt out and don’t feel heard at all. I’d recommend Collin to someone starting their career in education but not to someone looking to grow within a company. Sadly, this is the state of most of higher education and Collin is the best of the worst.

Pros

The only pros about Collin were the benefits and holidays...other than that everything else sucked. All of management was rude, two-faced, and unprofessional. I honestly regret ever working here.

Cons

Everything about working here sucks. Every day was stressful. Don't you dare make a single mistake because management will make you feel stupid but also refuse to help you when you have questions.

Pros

Decent Benefits/retirement is matched (TRS) SO MANY great people on the operational level Predictable schedule Lots of time off and upfront sick/vacation hours

Cons

90 day probation period No SS benefits because you don't pay into it... Rule of 80 to retire Prior Military can only buy 5 years of time back... All upper-level management resides in the same building and is never on any campus unless it's related to remodels or events. They are completely out of touch with the people on the ground and make decisions without thinking about how they will affect everyone else. They preach diversity, but after a certain level of management, there is none... The board meetings are a panel of old caucasian males with no real transparency of future plans. Culture is very reactive and not PROACTIVE!! Common sense is a myth... Uses old technology, New structure was 34 Million, but the equipment is from 1996. No foresight or planning when it comes to changes-They just DO...If it puts strain on the staff, oh well...(Example)- An entire department was relocated to a facility which offered little to no resources for them to do their job, all because the upper management wants to tear down their old building and make something new. Why not build the new place first and THEN move them? Making changes that are unnecessary or a waste of resources, when there are plenty of other problems that need to be resolved. You will always be underpaid significantly, but they will try to sell you on how good the benefits are... Too many people WANT to leave but are so close to retirement, they can't risk losing that so they stay quiet. Several Adjunct Teachers did not have their contracts "renewed" after speaking out against the president of the college and the decisions regarding the Covid 19 safety measures. Management is very RIGHT-WING and only wants people to be quiet, obey, and follow directions, or so it seems...
