Pros

I have been at Collins for 2-1/2 years and have had nothing but a great experience here. I'm motivated to write to dismiss a few negative reviews that were posted by former employees whose experience was atypical in my estimation. I work as a structural engineer mainly focused on bridge inspections. The leadership in the Denver office is outstanding. I have always felt completely supported in any initiative I was inspired to take. They are open to new ideas from individuals at any level. They are the hardest workers in the office; they lead by example. Collins employees have a quality of work standard that exceeds competitors. We take no short cuts and we don't sacrifice our standards, even if it means we lose money once and a while, because we know that integrity is the most profitable long-term game. This attitude starts from the top: the managers and leaders demonstrate their adherence to high quality - they do not force it on others - and that mindset trickles down the chain. You couldn't ask for a better culture. There are a diverse set of interests and skills here, but everyone has a few things is common: everyone takes care of him/herself, is always trying to improve, and has fun at work. I have great friends at work and look forward to coming in to hang out with them every day. The Denver office mainly specializes in structural inspections, bridge load ratings and design, and land development. However, we are always looking to expand our scope of expertise. The company's resources extend across the country with skillsets spanning a wide spectrum, which allows us to tap into new markets even if we don't have the expertise locally.

Cons

Since I HAVE to write some cons: I'm not a big fan of the company motto: "Added Value". Seems kind of vague and obvious.

Pros

I have been an employee at Collins Engineers for 2.5 years on the Structural Inspection side, and in that time I have been presented with multiple opportunities to develop and grow as an engineer. I have had a great experience with everyone I've worked with at Collins Engineers, which instills a great sense of support and loyalty throughout the company. Overall, Collins takes the time to invest in their employees by encouraging continuing education courses, specialized training, and conferences. Upper management does a really good job of adapting and listening to their employees. Collins provides multiple resources throughout the company to help aid with the completion of projects. There is a good sense of communication and togetherness throughout all the offices of the company. Structural inspections is the driving factor here, and allows for opportunities to work in some unique environments as well as specialized projects (diving, climbing, drone inspections). The Denver Office as a whole has been a great office to be a part of. On the Structural Inspection side there is a good variety of projects to work on and opportunities to develop new skills. The office culture is very much so work hard play hard mentally with great flexibility, a sense of family and togetherness and promotes a good work/home life balance. As it can get pretty busy at times, upper management does a very good job at checking in and making sure all available resources are at your disposal to complete projects efficiently. Senior Project Managers are very helpful with guidance and support throughout all levels of the project. Bryant, the Regional Manager, and manager of the Denver office has done a wonderful job of staffing this office. Providing opportunity for growth and obtaining a variety of projects for employees to work on has created more reliable and fulling work. In this office there are also opportunities for Civil Site, and Structural Design work.

Cons

None that I can think of.

Pros

Freedom and work-life balance, excellent mentoring and opportunities to explore all facets of the engineering business even as an entry level engineer, ability to travel and explore incredible locations around the country with like-minded active individuals.

Cons

Sometimes due to the seasonal nature of the work, the options for variety can be slim at times. However, over a few years, young engineers are exposed to diverse work in an out of the office.
