Pros

- Great snacks - Amazing Staff. Some of the best people I have worked with - Pretty decent benefits

Cons

- Don't be fooled, this is no "tech" company. Just a glamorized real estate company - Managers don't have any kind of training. They were promoted because they had been there the longest with absolutely no training whatsoever. - People left because of comments made by agents to staff. No repercussions because HR is nonexistent and because no matter what, the agent will always be right. I have witnessed, experienced , and heard many instances where if this happened at a traditional company, the person would be reprimanded in some way. Here? Especially if you are a top producing agent, they look the other way - Everything I did was put under a microscope. Dont' give me a job if you think you have to examine every email and project I do. Would get in trouble for not CC'ing your boss in emails because they wanted to see everything you did. - Near the end, they introduced something I have never seen in my life. They had people track hour by hour exactly what they were doing. They never told us why but told us this was mandatory. I was one of the 400 people let go due to COVID. They way they handled this situation was atrocious. They wrangled people into a video conference, told everyone to turn off their cameras and microphones , and told us we were no longer employed. There was not one once of humanity in their delivery and it felt like we were cattle sent to slaughterhouse. This experience has taught me so much as to what I am not looking for in my next job, and for that, I am thankful .

Pros

Great coworkers, lots of talented hard workers. Compass is well positioned in the real estate market, which is massive and doesn't have a lot of real competitors with the same agent-first philosophy. They have snacks and good health insurance.

Cons

Poor leadership, top-down reactive decision making, very poorly staffed HR, employees are treated differently based on office location and job type, ruthless business decisions such as laying me off right before I was going on parental leave, deciding to not pay out vacation days to laid off employees, cutting salaries of all employees (except P&E), thinks of themselves as a tech company but doesn't treat their employees as well as the other tech companies I've worked for. The only company I have ever worked at with no 401k matching.

Pros

Joining Compass has been one of the biggest mistakes of my career - please be careful if you are considering of joining

Cons

Despite the CEO requesting that the marketing and Agent Ops teams submit fake Glassdoor reviews (you can view this by looking at the rating trends). Compass really is not a technology business at all, the business growth is from buying up other brokerages and offering 100% splits. You can see this in the recent CNBC interview where Robert could not articulate an answer on how the business uses technology.
