Pros

-Management that does not micromanage. -Just introduced a good base salary of $40k year 1, $38k year 2 and $36k year 3. This salary allows a livable wage as you build your book of business. -VERY high earning potential. -Lots of perks and free lunches/swag. Plus perks for hitting goal, getting calls with vendors and creating opportunities. -Lots of bonuses.

Cons

-Some luck involved, can be disheartening when a newer person gets a big deal even when they haven’t talked to anyone and the vendor reaches out to PC Connection and that person luckily is tagged to that account. Can be good if it happens to you though! -It’s a grind. 50-70 calls everyday, lots of hang ups and people not answering or blocking/screening your calls. Sometimes feel like a typical telemarketer, even though you’re not. -Takes time to build your book of business. Have to stick it out for 2 years or so. -Can be tough to ask the right questions when you get a decision maker on the phone if you’r not tech. savvy. -Training is good, but does not really stick. You need to just do it in order to learn the systems. -The software program JDE is INCREDIBLY old and NOT intuitive. Something out of the 80’s. Literally looks like MS dos.

Pros

personal trainers for group workouts at no charge there are company wide holiday lunches and that sort of thing. but frequently lunches are catered for the sales reps. leftovers for the rest of us. maybe. free coffee, provided by Symantec sponsor

Cons

pretty much everything else from the minute you set foot in the door. micromanaging supervisors, unresourceful Human Resources dept, offensively pathetic "incentive" programs for Operations employees.

It is unfortunate that you do not enjoy the working environment. You fail to mention the additional benefits that were not in place before PC Connection, Inc. purchased Softmart. These include a significant reduction in your medical contributions equating to almost 50% less deducted from your paycheck, better prescription drug coverage, tuition assistance, better paid time off including dedicated sick time and dedicated vacation time contrary to your statement, better disability benefits including company paid LTD, Adoption Assistance, Fitness Reimbursement, Computer Loan Program and many other perks.
