Pros

The salary and benefits were good. You worked in a team environment where everyone was held accountable for there role.

Cons

This company was the only federal division in the company. It was challenging to work with the parent company that mainly work in the commercial arena. Leadership did not go to bat for its staff with the parent company. It was understaffed, employees had to wear many hats and did not receive raises for their efforts.

Our Federal Business is staffed and managed by a team that has a wealth of experience in the Federal Sector. That Division is empowered to conduct business in a manner to grow our business and ensure success. We continually strive to recognize achievement. The position referenced here is a Contracts role, where we offer yearly performance reviews and employees are eligible for merit increases based on the quality of their work.

Pros

Flexible work environment, depending on department. Lenient remote work policy, you never have to feel guilty about arriving a little late or leaving a little early. Great coworkers, everyone is always friendly and welcoming. C-levels are nice, approachable. Benefits - 15 days off, no earned sick time.

Cons

A very large majority of the employees have been there 5, 10, 15 years and more. One might think 'it must be a great place to work' but it's really just convenience or lack of motivation or knowledge that there are better options. There's a huge complacency in the level of work produced and very little interest in changing in a positive direction. Old, crumbling systems and processes in place with lots of talk of change without any action behind it. The biggest con is layoffs following poor quarterly results and holding career fairs shortly after. Doesn't inspire confidence in employee security. Benefits - minimal 401k match, only 7 holidays, no notable employee appreciation events (unless you're in sales) <---Directors serve turkey lunch in the cafe at Thanksgiving. . .

PC Connection does provide a good benefit package. We don't understand the comment about no sick time; sick time is available to all employees at all locations. While the author makes note of the longevity of employees at PC Connection which is accurate, we believe that employees stay here because of the positive work environment and the dedication they have to serving their customers both internal and external. Our customer retention rates and net promoter scores are enviable in any industry as evidence of this. We believe we have very competitive benefits and many employee discounts and perks for all employees. PC Connection is among one of the largest employers in New Hampshire and has provided significant employment opportunities. We do recognize the fact that our internal operating systems are an area of opportunity to invest in and several initiatives are well underway to address this.

Pros

-Almost unlimited resources at your disposal -Everyday has the potential to learn something new whether product/process or procedure related -Atmosphere and coworkers are good people, laid back and down to earth while hard working

Cons

-Supposedly the current micro managing by managers was never this apparent as the past -I've witnessed quite a bit of turnover from SSA's and Account Managers in a short period of time -Pay for an SSA is somewhat laughable especially for the amount of work you do behind the scenes (hoping "putting in my time" pays off for the next level)

We are happy you mentioned the unlimited training resources available to employees of GovConnection. We work hard to provide the training needed to succeed here. As you mentioned we have a great culture of people as well, something we are particularly proud of. We do have one of the highest tenured staff in the industry; employee turnover in sales after 3 years in the role is far below the industry average due to the earnings realized and the unlimited earnings potential. The SSA role you mention is entry-level, with a corresponding salary; we wouldn’t want anyone to stay in that role for very long in fact. We encourage our SSAs to learn as much as they can and we offer incentives to move up in to a higher-salaried position with additional responsibility as soon as they are ready. All of our top reps began their career journey with us as SSAs and we are proud of their growth. Also, a major facilities upgrade is in the works, stay tuned!
