Pros

CED offers a lot of flexibility in working with customers and getting the job done. In Outside Sales, commissions are un-capped so you are only limited by your own energy and ambition.

Cons

Due to the nature of their structure, Outside Sales is as high as one can go on a sales track. Any potential career advancement above outside sales would necessitate becoming a location manager.

Pros

Very personable atmosphere given the size of the company. CED trains you well and sends you all over the United States in order to attend the training classes you will need to succeed in the distribution industry.

Cons

The industry as a whole is not that attractive, especially to the younger generation; but it is always evolving.

Pros

Easy job that can be fast paced with interesting challenges. Job security is high and can be a good career for somebody that wants to prove themselves without a college degree.

Cons

This company typically operates on a very lean staff in order to maximize profit sharing. It is very common to be overworked for a minimal wage throughout the year and everybody counts down the months to profit sharing for financial relief each year. Most locations can be enjoyable to work at but the Denver location is more cut throat and uptight. Don't expect anybody to do anything outside of their job title. If you would rather get paid your commissions throughout the year, I would suggest another distributor or electrical representative.
