Pros

I am not complaining about work or what I do but how Americans have been marginalized at Exelon and in particular in Qunat Analytics/Structuring team.

Cons

Exelon is probably doing the same thing as Disney did to its employees by replacing the Americans with cheap H1B. I am not at all xenophobic but man when you look around at this place you have at least 30-40% people on H1B or who have gotten their green card through employment at Exelon. Some of them have grown up to be managers and they do not respect Americans and are ready to pass Americans off for an immigrant employee. I am sorry but Donald Trump can easily make this place an example of how American workers are being marginalized in favor of cheaper labor. I say cheaper labor as I know of Phds who at the end of the year are working on base salary of ninety thousand dollars a year. That is called wage suppression since it takes about 7 years to get a Phd after your undergraduate studies in STEM field. Once I thought about getting my Phd in a technical field but then I realized that I will be competing against the immigrant working for less than six figures after spending 7 years in graduate school. Don't blame American's for realizing the economics which has been made bad by companies like Exelon. Hiring immigrants of color or gender is not same as hiring American Blacks, Hispanics and Women. I don't want to mention a specific instance as it will identify me but I have been passed over for an immigrant. An immigrant here likes to joke they are cheaper and they are at work all the time... working .. Actually there is even a team here which is jokingly called mafia from certain country as it is made up of only people from that particular country.

A disappointing place to work with high turnover and constant instability

Pros

-Excellent yearly bonus package. -Flexibility to work off-site (which is also a con, see below). -Nice people to work with for the most part. -If you like to travel both with a lot of notice or little notice, then this is definitely the right company to work for.

Cons

-Very high turnover due to low morale, burnout, bad management, and a variety of other reasons. -You have to constantly battle and fight for a reasonable budget to complete or maintain projects delegated by senior leadership. Yet the travel budget is astronomical - most (but of course not all) business trips that are assigned could be done over the phone or on Skype or a product like it, if the company reevaluated the cost of implementing a video conferencing tool versus how many thousands of dollars they are wasting on air fare, bar binging, hotels, etc. -Culture is stiff, impersonal, unhealthy and does not promote employee wellness or personal health at all. There is no on-boarding for new employees or even any type of HR presence at all. You're expected to be on-call around the clock and when groups get together through travel there is extreme binge drinking (many times on the company dime), from employees of all ages not just the 20-somethings. -Management expectations are completely unrealistic, which drives people to work way beyond their capacity (and many times burn out) or to never feel a sense of completion or satisfaction. -Very frequent movement of teams and changes in reporting structure, which is often interpreted by employees that management doesn't know what they are doing. -Absolutely no work-life balance for people who are truly working hard (some people actually aren't and try hard to fake the fact that they are not hard-working). Everyone is granted with off-site access so even during extreme and stressful situations such as hurricanes and states of emergency, employees are expected to be working. -Since right before Exelon bought the company, there has been very little room to move or grow into a new position, there are very few promotional opportunities, and many people feel "stuck" or even worse, worried about whether they will even have a job. Many times when people leave, their job is not back-filled and the work gets pushed out to the remaining team members who are already overworked. -During occasional road closing/horrendous traffic events because of national or large-scale events in Baltimore, Maryland employees are never advised to work off-site (even though it would make for a more productive work day), but when similar events take place in regional offices, there is more sensitivity.
