Pros

Yes, it's stable. Rumor has it, CorVel never had layoffs, although I cannot attest to the accuracy of this claim. Lunch once a month. Occasional work from home.

Cons

Where to begin. Benefits: are dismal to say the least. You wont' be eligible for more PTO four years. Retirement (401k) contribution is at discretion of the company once a year (amount unknown), so say good bye to compounding. Health insurance is underwhelming. Long wait times to be eligible for any benefits. Compensation: sub par and noncompetitive. Process: segmented, siloed, and process-heavy. Lot of 'paper pushing' to get anything done or deployed. Agile? - yes, we've heard of that, but we'd rather do things the old ways. Technology: do you feel like working with 10-year old tech? Then, it's a place for you. Database is King. And since SQL is inherently a procedural language, forget about "object oriented" and all that modern software nonsense. Dull projects of stamping out forms await you. Management: cliquey lifers with decades into it, so expect groupthink and illusion of change. Managers are emotionally unintelligent and poorly qualified to lead and mentor people. You're on your own when it comes to learning the ropes. Culture: none to speak of.

Pros

Flex time for appointments. They ARE equal opportunity, at least where I am. Everyone gets a fair share of misery.

Cons

Pay is not competitive in today's market and the pay raises are insulting. They praise your work ethic up and down and then give you spare change, the amount of which is already consumed by taxes and fees, and the medical plan costs going up after the first of the year. Add to this that they claim they're making changes to streamline processes but it only creates more work instead of making things better. The supervisor in my office has no power of their own, they're a corporate mouthpiece and nothing more. They say they want problem solvers and people who think outside the box, and then when you try to be helpful and offer suggestions you're told that you're nitpicking. They say they promote from within and then post job openings on job platforms instead of mentioning them to the team. Look up the definition of "quiet cutting" and it perfectly describes this company's treatment of their employees.
