Hello, fellow Cortlandian! My name is Priscila Mattingly, and I am the Executive Vice President of Talent at Cortland. I read your comment and wanted to respond personally to your concern. I have to admit, this feedback was hard to receive, and while I wish we were having this conversation in person, I still appreciate your comment. Cortland is indeed a different place to work! In many ways, we operate like a family, which at times can be a bit messy and less than politically correct. Just like a family, sometimes we celebrate and sometimes we disagree, sometimes we exchange words of encouragement and sometimes we exchange words of frustration. Regardless, this is us – as imperfect as any human, as imperfect as any family. I understand that our pace and intensity is not for everyone, but one thing is certain – everyone here has a voice and a chance to achieve greatness in their career alongside an amazing group of professionals who truly care about each other and about what they do. This is the culture that our CEO and founder, Steven DeFrancis, embraces and supports every day. While you may have observed a moment of frustration, I can assure you that those moments are rare. What is much more common at Cortland are the moments of joy, celebration, generosity, and compassion. My door, as well as Steven’s, is always open so you and our 1,500 associates can talk to us about anything, anytime. My wish is that all associates experience our values and our culture at their fullest, as well as take advantage of our open door practice. We want associates to come speak with us with the confidence that in spite of our imperfections, we are here to help. We also have two avenues available for associates who want to raise concerns anonymously by reaching out to Talent Resources at 678.329.3553 or contacting our third-party anonymous concern line at 1.800.461.9330.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. We will certainly use your feedback to continue to improve Cortlandia, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
