They bulldoze small towns

Pros

Great co-workers and a good place to start a career if you don't know any better.

Cons

They blaze in and take over, firing anyone with any relationships established outside the Covenant System. For patients it's like Hotel California. Once you check in, you can't check out. They tell you who you can/can't use for health care. They don't give patients any choices at all. They make a point to bring in outside employees and find small reasons to fire anyone who makes more money than they want to pay or anyone with family working for other organizations. They hire cheap, inexperienced nurses and doctors. It's all about the dime.

Pros

most of your co-workers are genuinely good people. pay scale can be satisfactory. physician and nursing staff are well-educated. medical staff has great ability to move around within the company. you won't get canned when you near retirement age.

Cons

some co-workers will take advantage if they have a position of authority. pay scale is typically low. employees who have worked there a long time may less educated than newer, lower-paid employees; be careful-you could get stuck in a dead-end job.

Pros

The industry is dragging them forward, but they are still years behind other health systems their size... but they are being forced to offer more flexibility and choices due to people leaving.

Cons

Work/Life Balance, Good Ole Boy Environment, If you have ambition and are a hard worker be ready to be ridden like a work horse and eventually burnt out and thrown to the side for being a hard worker while those who do nothing are allowed to sit on the side lines and still get their annual merit pay.
