A Disaster in Business Ethics

Pros

The work is straightforward and not very hard. The office staff and investigative staff are comprised of a few hard-working individuals that have knowledge and mastery of their respective fields.

Cons

Multiple, documented instances of sexual harassment and unprofessionalism have taken place during my time at this company. Supervisors have been known to send text messages to female interns with lewd propositions such as asking if they would come over for a “bath” after work, or an unsolicited interest in meeting them for weekend activities. An executive has personally favored and oversaw the promotion of an employee into a higher paying and more prestigious position than some who have been with the company for years. This employee received multiple promotions within a year’s time, which is a unique career track compared to anyone else, regardless of who else may have applied. A top executive made a remark to an intern that she looked like his next ex-wife and would contact her when he gets a divorce with his current wife. Ha. Ha. Very. Funny. A seasoned investigator that can really read a room, much less a workplace… This is a company that can sometimes be best described as an unsupervised frat house, which could be baited with one well-placed cocktail waitress (also documented). This company also takes full advantage of “at will employment” and will fire unapologetically, then back into it with half-hearted, disingenuous excuses such as “company vision” or “structure change,”. A certain executive will brag about firing people by phone call while wearing his “red shirt”. Yes, an executive has his very own, precious “firing shirt”- what a demonstration of maturity, mocking people while making them unemployed! The employees are treated poorly, overworked, and largely underappreciated. A select few inside upper management are indifferent to their employees’ needs and at times are unprofessional. The company does not compensate investigators fairly, regardless of sacrifice or quality of performance. Quantity is quite often the focus over quality. Certain clients are billed hundreds an hour for the same cases, while the average wage for investigators will remain $18-$22 per hour. Their investigator performance reviews are not at all thorough and very generic. A manager once said, “no one can achieve a 5, because 5 is perfect,” thus relieving any anticipation you would have for a sensible increase in pay. I would strongly advise against working for this company until they have a major change in upper management.

Pros

Good job for someone who has just dropped out of high school, has no experience of any kind, has a heartbeat, knows how to breath, walk and talk, and can drive their own car.

Cons

This company will suck the life out of you. To them you will be a faceless number that is expendable at any given moment. To set the record straight and as others have stated, ALL of the positive reviews are completely fabricated from internal staff to make the company look good. ALL of the negative reviews are spot-on and give a true representation of this company. I have been with the company for nearly 5 years now, and after the merger I am looking elsewhere for employment. Instead of caring for the well being of their employees, this company thought they were financially smart by making their investigators do the work of 3 or 4 different positions in the Private Investigator field. Here's the overall run-down 1) They want you to do the surveillance work which is 8 hours. 2) They will make your drive an hour away and NOT pay you for your travel time. 3) THEY WANT YOU TO DO ALL OF THE WORK OF A MANAGER. This includes holding contact with the clients, writing reports "tailored to each client"-meaning each report you write will be completely different and will take an additional hour to figure out how to do, plus an additional hour writing the report. Expect to work at LEAST 2 HOURS from home while writing the report. (They will also threaten to fire you for simple mistakes if your report isn't precisely client ready) You will also only be allowed to bill for 15 minutes when the report itself will take 2 hours. 4) You will be required to do most of the background investigations from home. This means an additional hour of your own time wasted on what should be handled internally from the office. 5) TOTAL HOURS WORKED PER DAY- (12-13 hours) TOTAL PAY PER DAY (8.5 hours) 6) Almost no chance of upward mobility. You will be stuck in your position no matter how well you do in the field. 7) No raises based on performance. They will give you a 2-5% rise annually which you will have to fight for. This ads up to less than a dollar raise each year typically. 8) They pay below market value and expect you to work 3 time as much as any other company. 9) GPS tracking devices in their "company provided" cell phones. Yup, this means if you have to run to the bathroom you better pray no one is looking at the tracker at the time or you will be reprimanded. 10) "Smartpartner" or as it's simply known in the industry as "Dumbpartner". This is a report writing program that is the most repetitive structure you have ever seen. Expect to write the same thing at least 5 different times, spend hours trying to write it correctly, then more time after it malfunctions and loses all of your information. *This review is not intended to bash on the company. They do pay on time and that is one of the perks the company. will offer you. They also do have a 401K program and very poor insurance program, (You'll be better off getting a policy on your own privately). You also may or may not get 40 hours per week depending on where you live.-chances are you won't. I hope this review gives any potential new employees a better idea of what their getting themselves into. There are many better companies to be a part of. Do the research before making a decision. These are primarily the reasons investigators are running away in flocks. This is a mock firm that has lost it's touch with good old fashioned investigative work and only cares about the numbers game. They are a sinking ship that is bound to fail.

Pros

The only pro about working here was that the job was easy and took no effort on my part. It was just editing reports and video footage. Also, I liked my coworkers.

Cons

First off, I could write a novel about all the cons....but I'll stick to the main points. The pay is low, the management/way they communicate is a joke, and it's horrible how they have phased out the Quality Control (QC) department in the Orlando office. When I started here last year in QC, there were about 30 editors at one point. Then after December, they started laying off pretty much all of us in groups. By the end of April, there were under 10 editors left. We were essentially told that all job opportunities in the company were basically in Jacksonville and other departments within the company and it's been heavily implied that the QC department would eventually just die off (at least in the Orlando office). For most of 2017, there has been just a sense of foreboding dread hanging over the department. Anyway, they tell us less than a month ago that they aren't looking to eliminate any further QC positions. Or at least that we would have some warning if this changed. Let's just say if you are going to allow an employee to be able to work from home, it looks pretty shady and unprofessional to lay them off less than a week later... and to play it off like it was "a sudden decision" that you had no possible advance knowledge of. Just saying :) With all that said, I hope that everyone who has had the unfortunate experience of being laid off by this place has been /is able to move on to better opportunities.
