Great company for the risk averse

Pros

Kind founders and many great people Very stable business that keeps getting better Great comp and outstanding benefits, very employee friendly

Cons

No incentive to perform well, like recourse for poor performance Grotesquely political and hierarchy/level obsessed Decentralized product org creates misaligned incentives and turf wars across the business. Operates as a series of competitor companies more than a single company Lack of innovation. The newest vertical is slow and clunky and has a ton of poor execution instead of a desire for actual innovative problem solving. Believes funnel optimization is vision. Illogical decisions around hiring mandates in Charlotte, not willing to go remote. HR function is bananas. Run like the mafia. Paranoid, threatening, openly derisive of employees. Unbelievably defensive leadership.

Pros

-Good brand awareness and product that has been evolving really well -Inspiring CEO - who's approachable and humble -Fun & amazing colleagues

Cons

-Not convinced we have the right strategy in place. Continuous debate and tension between some of the teams on who's owning what. There has been blaming and posturing that doesn't seem to be taken seriously. -This all starts with your People team. Narcissistic and ego-driven head of people who will only do things that will serve their ego. Unfortunate but true. High level of favoritism. If you are a yes person, you'll do okay. -Promotions across org are not consistent. If you are on a team where leader is close to the "right people" you'll be taken cared of.

Inconsistent Culture and Lacks Solid Management

Pros

Some of the people here are amazing, down to earth, and passionate about their work. Occasional events are nice and well organized. Overall mission of the company is good, but sometimes compromised at the expense of the members to meet revenue goals.

Cons

As you can tell from the reviews, there's major cultural inconsistency across the organization. Marketing & Engineering teams have ample flexibility while Product, Biz Dev, and Analytics are always stressed out and seem to never leave their desks (do they even eat?). Colleagues are often rude due to being stretched so thin and cross functional solidarity is nonexistent. Lack of experienced, conscious management is also a serious problem. Shockingly, senior managers continue to have the "we had no idea" reaction to new issues and the "ummm... we're still working on it?" answers to old pain points. Pay is over-indexed towards equity and not competitive from a salary perspective. While there's a professional development plan with an annual allotment, actual employee promotion is rare and not on par with other startups in the area. Plan to take a pay cut (no matter your experience or previous position) and stay in your role for at least 2-3 years before even being considered for a promotion.
