Pros

Every one is incredibly talented and I love the people at Ellation. Get to work on great content and cool projects.

Cons

No team coordination. Too much is lost because teams work in silos. Everyone thinks they know what is best and do not listen to the advice of others. The "leaders" seem to make it up as they go and it's obvious they know just as much as the rest of us. There is always promise for growth dangled right out of your reach which keeps you here. Wish I had left long ago.

Appreciate this feedback - I also want you to know that you can schedule a time to chat live if you ever would like.... Silos are certainly something we want to diminish and work through to maximize our resources that we have and continue to make this a great place to work.

Pros

The VRV and Crunchyroll products have a big, loyal fanbase. Good swag.

Cons

People told gay jokes in the office during Pride month. There is a history of incidents of sexual harassment by senior male staff as well as rank-and-file workers toward women (some leading to dismissals, some apparently not). The company also drove a bunch of teams through a death march to ship a new version of software, then laid off dozens of people and sent their jobs to a company in Moldova owned by the "interim" CTO immediately after the deadline was met. Tacky. Cruel.

Pros

Used to be a good place to work. I wrote a long review of this place once, I think one of the 3 stars (or maybe 4 stars), and I genuinely believed in the mission then

Cons

Go check the Ellation Glassdoor before you decide anything. Ellation is the "parent" company of Crunchyroll and while that may lead some people to think that perhaps Crunchyroll itself is a standalone unit within Ellation, more or less sheltered from all that's happening, it's not. Pretty much anyone who worked on Crunchyroll worked on the new product VRV as well, it is the same people the same teams (there was not enough headcount to split into two), so anything that is described happening to Ellation employees is gonna be the very same for this listing, even if they look separate in Glassdoor
