Pros

If you're at the start of your career you'll probably get alot out of working here as not all of the old guard talent has been pushed aside yet and it can be a fun place to work. Salaries are pretty competitive and there are some perks, especially if you like anime and graphic novels. If you're a mid-career or tenured professional you probably want to give this one a pass. Otherwise know that you're going to deal with disjointed leadership, changing priorities, infighting, and an organization that hasn't figured out who it is or where it's going yet.

Cons

Crunchyroll (Ellation) is a well-worn tale. Fun, quirky, passionate startup is acquired. The corporate goons appear in the shadows speaking various dialects of psycho-babble. Cliche slogans are posted about attitude, doing, winning, etc. The cool-aid is dispensed. Those who don't partake are summarily liquidated.

Pros

Really great non-management people @ the company Not a ton of industry standard benefits but base pay is ok Depending upon your role, it's possible to have good or terrible work life balance - mine is currently ok

Cons

Toxic managers are protected and shuffled around - think Catholic Church style Heard it's different on different teams - not all managers, etc - but depending on where you land, it's very possible to be on a team or with a manager that governs through fear, intimidation and the projection of constant disappointment Generally don't see people promoted within the company (unless you're C-Suite) - lots of outside hires for VP and Director positions - not always, but often people who don't have great context or the necessary technical knowledge or experience Do you enjoy being pitted against your co-workers for managerial approval, do you crave castigation for things outside of your control, do you yearn to be quizzed constantly about your competence - apply today!

Best coworkers -- terrible leadership

Pros

Absolutely wonderful coworkers. Most people who work here are passionate and kind. Good benefits such as catered lunches, and commuter benefits. Only two days required in office Free CR membership Fun events Employee Resource Groups

Cons

Leadership is not transparent and do not care about employees or the fans. It's been a big change since merging with Funimation. It's all about saving a buck. HR is also terrible, and there are quite a few of racist, homophobic, and agist, folks that are still allowed to stay because they've been at the company for awhile -- even despite multiple complaints and evidence. If you suck up to leadership then of course you can stay. I'm sad the company has taken such a turn over the years as it used to be a fun place to work.
