Pros

Cool office, mostly smart and driven coworkers, free coffee, free lunch on occasion, pretty people, product/services can be very good and useful for the right prospects/clients

Cons

Almost all managers/upper level execs are toxic, a cult-like environment, lead trainer hasn’t sold a cent of Cvent in over 10 years and the platform has completely changed since then, Cvent is growing fast but not adapting fast enough, poor job at lead distribution across reps leads to unfair and unequal opportunities for success, limited professional development/promotions due to that inequality If you leave or quit before 18 months, you will have agreed to when hired to pay back a loan for the first 4 weeks of “world class/industry leading training” (every saas company claims this, the training was not sufficient and rather ineffective). This can be thousands of dollars, and they make it worse if you quit within 12 months. They say this is because as a start-up, new hires would go through the training and quit to leave for a more well established company. However, Cvent is now the global/industry/worldwide/well established leader in meetings and event technology and yet they continue to prey on recent college graduates with this loan... so slimy

The Best Worst Job

Pros

Cvent does a great job of hiring ambitious and motivated college grads. I’m still very close with my old colleagues. The event industry can be fun with travel opportunities. Cvent’s event planning team always does an awesome job.

Cons

You salary will not be enough to live in the Northern Virginia area. If you live at home, you’ll be okay; otherwise, you’ll be living paycheck to paycheck. You could make more working at a non-profit or as a teacher in Northern Virginia, yet Cvent brags about its path to being a billion dollar company. Most middle managers are micro managers and will breath down your neck at every moment. There are some managers who are great but most managers fall into the category of “Reasons you will be leaving this job” Event planners are sociopaths so prepare for the most frazzled and unprofessional clients you will ever meet. The recruiters lie about as much as the sales team does, so get ready for false expectations from beginning to end. Cvent is treats employees like a revolving door and knows every year that a new batch will be coming.

Not my cup of tea

Pros

Hyper growth company with plenty of opportunities for those who fit in. At a macro level, the company communicates well and says all the right things. Lots of talented and hard working folks who are willing to "Bleed Blue" 24/7. This is a positive, sales- centric place to start your career.

Cons

If you're a more seasoned worker, this won't be your best choice. There's very little room for work/life balance or individuality. Forget questioning any process or rule! Upon my departure from Cvent, I learned that they do not pay out any PTO that was not accrued in the current year. It was a nasty surprise that I should have made myself aware of before they kept a tidy sum of money that I earned.
