Pros

The pay was good for the type of work. There were some really smart and talented people there.

Cons

This is a seriously toxic workplace. The management structure has created an environment where new employees are constantly reminded to watch their backs. Because of that, there is little "team" work as everyone worries about everyone else's motives (are they out to get me fired?). Upper management will that you're doing a good job, but middle management will tell you that, "you lean back in your chair too much and **** thinks you're too comfortable" (actual quote from a meeting I was in). In my case, they decided to let me go just a few days shy of my 90 day probationary period without any warning or sign. There was also not a single word of constructive criticism. The cubes or seating is arraigned in such a way that every thing you do is visible to upper management as they sit in office that over look everyone else. Constant micromanagement is helped by only have 3 foot cube walls that are all connected and security cameras that are literally everywhere except the bathroom.

Pros

Great team-oriented atmosphere and quality talent. Hours are fairly reasonable considering the field (System Admin). Very little tolerance for complacency or lack of motivation. Salary can be very competitive for the DFW market.

Cons

High turnover culture has lead to a feeling of a "desensitized" management, viewing the employees seemingly as a number rather than a name. Upper management rarely looks employees in the eyes when communicating one-on-one, which is just one example of this culture. I can see a large shift in how management treat employees that stay for at least a couple of years. The company benefits cater to this high turnover, with items like 401K eligibility only kicking in after nearly a year of employment. Compensation time for additional hours worked (nights/weekends) is not offered.

Pros

Health Benefits and free self-help books

Cons

VPs and Management are washed out old-timers from other builders. You will be mistreated, belittled and talked about behind your back at the Henderson Division. BUT if you did work with any of the management at previous companies you will love it here because you wont have to do any actual work and will be given special treatment.
