Pros

They have a great support system, you can usually get plenty of hours, training is thorough, and vacations were usually flexible.

Cons

You have to pay for your own training, and they seemed somewhat understaffed.

Pros

I was a year round employee. The great part was they would really try to work with you when you needed off or was sick.

Cons

You have to pay for training every year, and it got expensive and began to outweigh the benefits of having such a low-key job. The trainings are also run by DRD, so it's like you're paying them to work there. Also, if you are an indoor lifeguard at hotels, you will have to work holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

All lifeguard certifications have expiration dates and need to be renewed in order to extend the certification and continue working in the industry. We give training discounts to hired employees with a 3.5+ CUM GPA, as well as to hired employees who complete the training early. The cost for training includes new safety equipment and uniforms. Employees who work on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas receive overtime pay.
