Our office is the red-headed stepchild of DUMAC. Management in the head office in Syracuse hardly ever considers how things operate here before making decisions that negatively affect us. One of the major reasons why people leave DUMAC in the Edmond office is not because of people IN the Edmond office, but because of the general negativity we experience from our peers in the head office. Have a good idea? It gets shot down immediately. Want to try something new? Have to get approval from management in Syracuse. Didn't meet an unrealistic expectation? Well, it works for a completely different shift in a completely different office with more coverage and less responsibilities that you have. Oh, and those standards never work the other way around. There's very little trust in the employees - we're often "not allowed" to do certain things that we're 100% capable of doing for fear of someone messing something up, so it gets deferred to someone above them. The concepts of autonomy or transparency seem totally foreign to leadership in Syracuse. I'd only recommend this place to someone for the referral bonus, at this point.
