Pros

There's a chance to learn a lot Lots of opportunity to carve your own niche. Despite widely reported (in local and national media) massive Medicare fraud investigations - they appear to have some stability in the industry.

Cons

There is a fair amount of chaos in IT leadership. We've had senior leadership recruited and quit in the same calendar year. They do deep layoffs in their IT tower every few years. These are mandated from on high and IT leadership doesn't have much say in these which leads to some interesting problems. A few years back they laid off every single project manager along with everyone who had admin rights on the ticketing system. In the latest round, they laid off several dozen employees from IT and hired back at least a few as contractor at 60%(approx) of their salary. That can be galling from a company who makes a big deal about how we're all "a village". As you'd imagine, morale among the survivors isn't great and gets worse with every new round. The Last Week Tonight program did a segment on 2017 on the dialysis the mentions Davita quite a bit. You can find it on Youtube. It's worth a look if you're considering employment here.

Pros

Now have flexible remote positions.

Cons

Davita pulls you with the CULT like culture but turns out all the smiles are fake. Davita refuse to pay a living wage which is reflected in tenured teammates having to have a part time job on the side to support their families! Teammates are shut down when talking about living wages because apparently davita provide such great “perks” that is should overshadow our desire to feed our children. Davita pays under market value, expect you to pay for all holidays out your PTO, has a terrible retirement plan and expensive benefits. The turnover rate is so high no one has a chance to get properly trained because the trainer is still learning! The majority of of management is delusional and have no idea of how to do the revenue specialist role to which they have unrealistic expectations and constant meetings to tell you you’re failing. You have to look a certain way and certain type of personality to succeed here. Davita lacks diversity and it’s very obvious who they want. Beware of this place, read through all of the class action lawsuits before you apply. There is a reason they will hire you so quick and that’s because they have to constantly replace the people running away! Davita will happily suck the life out of you just to collect money from insurance companies. STAY AWAY!

Pros

*Getting to work alongside some amazing and dedicated clinical teammates *Flexibility of work schedule (ex. working 4-10s, etc.) *Ability to build strong clinical relationships with long term patients

Cons

*There is little to no financial benefit of staying once you are fully licensed *Management often lacks understanding of the Social Worker role (resulting in lack of appreciation for their contributions in the clinic) *Many decisions are made (ex. changing Social Worker clinic locations, designating social workers as "float staff" after they are hired) without input or consultation from the social workers themselves *The DaVita M.O. of "do more with less" really impacts Social Workers. For example, leadership/management are constantly rolling out new projects and initiatives that have nothing to do with social work. Nonetheless, they expect Social Workers to take the lead on many of these initiatives without considering how this will affect their actual clinical role and work requirements. They continue to add responsibility, without taking any other duties away.
