Pros

I have spent several years in the Transportation industry as an Account Manager with UPS Freight and Saia. I made the decision that I no longer wanted to represent corporations that have lost site of the most important aspect of being successful, which is the customer and the employees.. Dayton Freight has instilled a culture within that continues to evolve as a leader in the industry whether it be through technology or their people internally. Benefits for Full Time employee's seem to be very competitive.

Cons

Provide some type of benefits to part time people

Pros

You get to have headphones in while you’re working so you can listen to music, podcasts, etc. Employee appreciation week is cool, they gave out Bluetooth headphones. They try to do raffles frequently to try and win prizes usually for holidays. The pay is decent for both part-time and full-time. Raises every 6 months. Got a lot of free stuff from them in the beginning.

Cons

Buckle up for this one. The vacation time is trash, the healthcare is alright but the biggest problem is the favoritism. It is very cliquey, I felt like I went back to high school. They let you know they don’t like you. Not only do the managers and your co-workers play favorites, the people who clean the office do too! So expect negative interactions with them, as well. The training is okay at best. They teach you how to use the system but not important things to look out for so you end up making mistakes after training about things you were never taught. They work you like an absolute dog. Expect to work mandatory 55 hour work weeks (because hiring hasn’t been that big of a priority as it should have been.) For one week of vacation a year... also no PTO for part-timers. They do not care about the safety of their employees. During the biggest snowstorm we’ve had years, they let some employees stay home and others were not allowed. Others had to come in and stay until it was already bad out before they could leave. When people were allowed to leave early on New Year’s Eve just because they didn’t want to be there but that’s none of my business. Dayton freight only cares about you, as an employee, if you’ve been there for years. I don’t recommend taking the abuse to get to that point either.

Pros

There are no pros HR will con people just so they can get rid of them! They acted like they were family but than turned around stabbed people in the back.

Cons

HR beaware not everything is tight lips.. just because someone is no longer there doesn't mean they don't know the truth of what goes on..
