Pros

Work with many smart people; important mission; pride and job satisfaction in supporting the warfighter; up to 5 weeks of PTO a year plus a separate pool of hours for sick leave; Lots of training/certification opportunities.

Cons

Below market pay; dwindling purchasing power by not keeping up with inflationary adjustments; as of 2025 full return to work with zero telework authorized; you may be working in archaic facilities depending on location; massive bureaucracy and decision making by committee makes it hard to get anything done; frequently changing priorities and policies due to 2-3 year churn of senior military leadership.
