Was a great company and has the individual contributor talent to become one again some day.

Pros

Great people, great collaboration between some teams, individuals respect each other, salary was above market, bonus was good, benefits acceptable. Was a great place to work for many years and hopefully will become a great place to work again once the Executive team is corrected.

Cons

Management can't decide on a strategic direction for the company, always chasing the leading competitor's business plan. Lack of push for innovation versus following what the market is doing or has done. Jobs frequently moving over seas to cut costs.

Pros

Can get really deep into areas to expand knowledge Allowed to rotate to other areas of the company with relative ease

Cons

No company wide long term vision that is shared with employees No downtime - employees must always be available via personal cell phone Short term goals rule - so layoffs are essentially quarterly

Pros

It's a great training ground for working with cross-functional teams where everyone has a different agenda. Helps you learn to manage incentives and influence people. The other great thing about Dell is that you're learning to work with ambiguity, and what it really does is help improve your decision making skills. This happens just naturally, so long as you enjoy the conflicts and tension

Cons

The strategy followed by upper management is just not clear and the amount of changes that happen abruptly are just tiring
