One Glaring Weakness

Pros

I have never seen another company so committed to finding trustworthy, hard working, career-minded individuals and then putting in the time and money to train them the right way. They interview hundreds of people to every single person hired, which means you truly work with the best of the best. You get to know the senior level people in corporate on a first name basis, and they even give you their cell number. There was not a single week where I worried about making a good paycheck at this job. If you are nervous about a job that is on a commission scale, then you probably don't have the right personality to excel in the environment anyway. I took home about $1,200 a week, and in three years there might have been twice when I had to settle for the minimum wage pay, and it was always because of a customer return. I loved how with my days off being during the normal work week, stores were empty and driving around the city yielded no traffic. If you want FAST upward mobility and a great culture, this is the place. It was one of the hardest things I had to do to step away from this company!

Cons

You have to relocate to promote, load customers in the blazing sun or rain while wearing a tie and slacks, and customers have way, way, way too long to return their product, but I will stick to the one biggest reason this company has employees quit: The hours. If you are single, you couldn't ask for a better job. If you have a spouse/family, you have to be the type of couple that doesn't need very much time together to be happy. If your spouse is of the majority that works a M-F scheduled job, you have to understand that you will literally never have a day off together, excluding Christmas Day, Thanksgiving and Easter. That's it. Every other holiday you actually work more, which means you lose a day off that week, not to mention special sales they do every month which once again takes one of your days off. And if you are a manager or assistant manager, there will be a total of a minimum of four weeks a year where you work open to close Monday-Sunday, which equals about a 75 hour work week. You add this to your schedule from the previous week, and it is normally 12 days in a row you have worked without a day off, potentially more. This means every customer complaint, follow up, and problem for nearly two weeks falls on yours and only yours shoulders. That is VERY stressful. I was top 15 in sales in the entire company when, ultimately, I decided life was too short to add to the dozens of birthdays, family get togethers, births, illnesses, etc of which I had missed every single one of for years. Your family gets used to planning things and knowing you won't be there, and that's hard.

Pros

None. Notice none if reviews are from a salesperson. Thats because everyone is a manager trainee=salesperson. Reviews are podtef by managers and long term managers in training. Look at them...many managers in training have been there gor many years???

Cons

Bait and hook used by high attrition sales companies. The only managers needed are salespersins willing to relocate after you prove your sales skills

I am not sure what reviews you are reading. There is no bait and switch as we are very open about hiring sales / management trainees, but occasionally hire people who are just in the sales position track, depending on what their goals are. They are similar positions, but with the trainee position being trained on basic management principles of the store. There are many reviews on here from people of less than 2 years with us as well as people who have been for many years, so don't discredit others experience because you did not find a fit with our company. We wish you the best of luck in the future and hope that you find whatever it is you are looking for in a career.

Pros

There is nothing positive about working for this company. The positive reviews you see are all fake, posted by upper management to give the false impression that there is even a slight redeeming quality of Denver Mattress. I hope someone will read this and think twice about committing any time to this company. You are better than this place. DON'T DO IT

Cons

The job itself is terrible. Selling low quality cheap mattresses, and you are paid solely on commission. You will work unreasonable hours for little pay. The health insurance benefits are terrible. The vacation time policy with this company is a joke. The District Manager who posts passive aggressive comments in Glassdoor to anyone who dares give an honest review....... is terrible. BTW if you want to play a game, scroll down on all of the Denver Mattress reviews. All the reviews in which the District Manager tries to defend the company or gives passive aggressive comments about how the former employee didn't have the skills to make it at this company - these are the real reviews. All of the reviews that would give this hole 5 stars, and those that espouse the values of Denver Mattress - these are all fake, written by upper management. They are trying anything they can do to make themselves look appealing to find a warm body to do their grunt work for minimum wage. They will try to tell you that first year employees average $45,000. This is a lie. I can't wait for the DM to reply to this review and tell me how my personal experience with the company is somehow wrong....how my skills didn't measure up. Comical, since now I am in banking making more than double of what Denver Mattress "claims" first year employees make.....with banking holidays, REAL PTO, and great health care. I wouldn't appreciate what I have nearly as much if I never worked for Denver Mattress...so there's that. If you are thinking about working for this company, I implore you to not do it. You will be better financially working fast food or Wal Mart. If you have to take the position, keep looking for other jobs as you train. Maybe you will be able to quit by the time you get out of training. The job is demoralizing, and I would not wish it upon my worst enemy.

Obviously you have some hard feelings regarding your time with Denver Mattress and we understand we are not the perfect company for everyone. As you stated, I will respond, but will make sure not to be passive aggressive. 1. None of these reviews are fake. These were all posted by real employees who chose to do them. You are blatantly insulting and disrespecting the numerous employees we have that have been here 10+ years and make a lot more money than a bank branch employee. 2. It must be some time (2+ years) since you worked for us as the title of District Manager has not existed since then. In short, you have no idea what it is like to work for us today. 3. The average hours worked per week are 45.5, which for a job that pays well above the national average, that is pretty reasonable. 4. Your statement that we sell low quality mattresses is blatantly incorrect. Our DMC line is the only mattress to be featured as Best Buy by the leading consumer magazine for 9 consecutive years. In addition, we carry Tempurpedic and Purple, both of which were just named JD Powers winners for top mattresses in customer satisfaction. 5. Health Insurance with 100% coverage after the deductible is great. The ability to go to any doctor you want is great. You are entitled to your opinion, but when my spouse had over $100,000 in medical expenses and we paid a $4,000 deductible, so I must disagree. 6. The first year employees average of $45,000 is actually a low number. For 2019, it was over $48,000. For any respective applicant, feel free to ask to see payroll in your local market. Markets do vary, but you can verify in your local area for the current local average. 7. We hope you find happiness in life and give up on your negativity. Please have some respect for the hundreds of people finding success with Denver Mattress.
