Pros

Relaxed and easygoing. Laid back and some cool stuff to learn. Get to travel for conferences. Meet lots of interesting people.

Cons

Long days, poor traffic amount/quality, working essentially 3 jobs for 1 job pay. No ads. Have to cut deals to match competition but get ridiculed. Get usurped by upper management on cases that shouldn't be taken care of in ways they are.

Thank you for your review and we wish you the best of luck in the future with whatever you choose to do. I disagree with many of your points as I know what you were making at the location you were at and what the potential of the market is. There were many ads, but many were not capitalized on by your performance. Again, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and we will continue to grow this market.

Pros

Relationships with the fellow employees, employee incentives if they reached a certain amount of sales.

Cons

I was asked by my store manager at the time to write a good review on glassdoor when I was still working there. It is retail so you will be working weekends, wouldn't be a problem, but you have to work all day there are no morning and night shifts and it doesn't seem right when the store manager can leave early, yet you or any other employee can't leave. I even asked for 3 days off to attend a funeral, and my request was denied by my store manager. Your warehouse team does not get paid well so there is a lot of employee turnover. It is hard to keep a delivery crew when you try to manage the delivery schedule yet the row keeps working them too hard causing them to quit. I always felt bad calling to customers to tell them they weren't getting their product. As a customer I would be furious, and I have dealt with this first hand. Tons of customers have yelled at me and cussed at me. The pay is there if you are in a bigger store, but if you go to a small store expect a huge pay cut and for the amount of work you have to do it's not worth it. I worked 48-53 hours a week and when the Store manager was gone I would have to work extra. Normally a 75 hour work week. Upper management feed off of young naive people to buy in into the company.

Pros

It's a retail job so walk into it expecting to work weekends. Also pay is 6% for each mattress sold. When tempur runs usually 3 to 5 thousand. it can be lucrative.

Cons

Some days are really slow and you don't get paid for being their cept 7i pay which is basically nothing. Management tends to get kinda political and while people tend to work together their is competition for sales and managers don't like losing. Have to move to promote hands down.

We appreciate your review, but wanted to explain a few items. First of all, you don't have to move to get promoted. The best available candidate gets the position. We look at the assistant manager position as a training position, so newer assistants do not always no it all and are training on the job. If you experience a new assistant, I am sure there were some growing pains, but hopefully you communicated these with your manager and district manager so they could help speed up the learning process. Also, in terms of customer service versus sales focus. We believe they are one in the same. Great service equals selling it right and backing it up, which is why we have been recognized nationally for our service by the leading consumer magazine.
