HR The Worst/Unsafe Workplaces

Pros

Plenty of FT teachers are being fired or quitting, creating Sub jobs like drops of water in a poisoned river.

Cons

Self entitlement among most of the nonCaucasians makes DPS a very unsafe place for nearly any teacher. HR staff is completely unsupportive. I was assaulted twice by students and HR only cared about its own political issues.

Pros

I love teaching, my principal, and the children.

Cons

Aurora teachers with the same years of experience and education make 10,000 more than DPS pays. Adams 14 pays 13,000 more and pays most of the teacher's health premiums. The salary of entry level teachers in DPS is almost as much as I make as a 10 year veteran. In addition, DPS requires much more from their teachers when it comes to work above and beyond teaching students. Example: LEAP (Leading Effective Academic Practice) involves hours of computer and meeting time. DPS has too many administrators and not enough resources going into the classrooms.

Bureaucratic Mess

Pros

Smart people working there but it is a painfully dumb system.

Cons

It's a giant bureaucracy and getting anything done for children, especially anything innovative, is nearly impossible.
