culture of flexibility and caring, but still a private company at the end of the day

Pros

Flexible working hours (relative to industry, but not totally flex). Culture of collaboration and personal support. Opportunities for skills, knowledge, and responsibility growth. Lots of people stay around for a long time (5+ years or more).

Cons

Compensation tied exclusively to title, not responsibilities-- negotiate up front!-- only entertain increases once per year (same time for all employees). Reliant on employees to care about working in International Development industry (lower pay compared to tech) while billing the government for tech company rates and expertise.

- good stepping stone for early professionals - certain colleagues are kind and friendly

Cons

- high turnover rate due to failure to recognize talent and compensate accordingly - lack of clear promotion structure leading to denial of raises and title changes - senior management suffers from nepotism, misogyny, and incompetence - uncompetitive and continuously fails to win contracts - finance and contracts department heads are horrible - riddled with work politics and passive aggression

Pros

Management has realised that the high turnover is a problem and is trying to do something about it. Turnover is slowing. DevTech is a good short term option/ starting point.

Cons

Morale is low as employees feel that their opinions are not appreciate nor valued. The approach to problems is typically avoidance and hope that they will go away if ignored. Management is inconsistent in their approaches with their favorites able to get what they want whereas others have to try much harder. Policies are inconsistently applied and justified differently depending on the requester.
