Beware: Despite friendly appearance, internal culture is toxic.

Pros

-Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, Life Insurance -Free Parking & Gym available at Waltham Location -Competitive base pay and overtime -Free day off for Mental Health Month -Free company swag on a quarterly basis -Company has amazing potential to do so much good for the communities it touches -Many talented, friendly, and hardworking people here that want to see that mission become a reality

Cons

-"Words over actions" company; they will say whatever they need to for gratification but their actions give the opposite message. -Complete lack of diversity (people and training) in the company which has led to some missed marks on multiple occasions -Beware if neurodivergent: no support offered for disabilities and repeatedly dismissed and patronized by manager, repeatedly got upset with me due to things related to my disability but actively refused any support that would lead to my success, repeatedly assigned tasks that set me up for failure even after multiple requests not to due to my disability. -No value placed in the people working for them; all they care about is your productivity output, even if it means sacrificing your mental and physical health. -Don't mention you have any talents that can be perceived as profitable: the company will expect you to use it for their own gain and skip out on hiring a professional to do the work. They'll force you to use the talent for their profit and then let you receive all the negative criticism if people don't like it without any protection. -Reactive over proactive: pointing out potential issues/roadblocks is a waste of time as management will dismiss you until the issue becomes an emergency and now you have to drop everything to solve something that could have been solved leisurely 3 months ago. -Expected to regularly work overtime or on the weekends without any work life balance consideration; you risk getting reprimanded for not working overtime to meet tight deadlines on projects that are dumped on you last minute. They are not up front about this during interviews or when you start. -Micro-management to the point of being unable to make progress on anything without approval from someone in management -Nepotism and favorites played amongst management; praise given behind closed doors to non-favorites and public posts on slack or comments in video meetings given for favorites. -No credit given or credit stolen by teammates/management multiple times -Repeatedly given tasks without needed information or resources to complete the task and setting you up for failure from the beginning; management won't listen if you ask for what you need to do the task and will let you fail, completely expecting it. -Management actively tries to fill your time with busy work in order to keep the appearance of being "useful" while simultaneously telling you that "you need to stay in your lane" when you help coworkers with the tasks you were just assigned. -Despite having a Mental Health Month, company does not care about employees wellbeing: repeated complaints from employees to management about burnout, task overload, lack of resources, etc without any real resolution from upper management; there were a lot of promises to better things, but no actions to support their words. -Nothing is sent in writing intentionally, even if you ask for it: Management/teammates purposefully would give negative feedback via phone or google meet so that it left no paper trail for the things they said. I couldn't go to HR about the situation because I had no way to prove anything. -Management has no problem throwing their employees under the bus for their mistakes in order to stay in the good graces of execs/upper management. -Your base pay is basically the only compensation you'll see. Raises are insultingly low and with no real career growth available, you're stuck with what you start with.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear that you did not feel fully supported at Devoted. Our goal is to foster an environment where all employees will be able to succeed regardless of any obstacles they may face. Managers are committed to working with each employee on a plan that works best for their style and needs. Devoted has held DE&I trainings for managers and will extend to company wide this summer. We encourage employees to bring their whole authentic selves to work and whenever possible allow room in job to tailor to superpowers and areas of interest. Employees with new ideas are routinely encouraged to run with them and are given space to try things out. Compensation strategy wise, Devoted aims to pay moderate to competitively on total cash(introducing our first company wide cash bonus in 2021) and aggressively on stock equity. All employees are eligible for merit based adjustments annually as well as equity refreshes following two years of tenure. Please feel to reach out and I would be more than happy to talk more offline about your experience and suggestions.

Pros

Promise of doing healthcare differently, they portray that want to treat members like family.

Cons

No work life balance, little training or support from leadership team, but expectation of high performance in little time. Was let go for what was called a performance issue, but believe it was a result of misalignment with organizational strategy and interpretation of regulations and requirements. Was not given a severance, was told you are paid through today and your health benefits end today (but you are more than welcome to continue them through cobra). This was appalling, and not how you would treat your family.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear that you are left feeling this way. Devoted has a rigorous performance management process that involves written and verbal communication of performance issues in a transparent and collaborative manner. Any exceptions are rare. Devoted does have a generous severance package which is distributed fairly and equitably. Insurance coverage does end on the last day of employment but employees have the ability to elect cobra for continued coverage as needed.

Sexism Still Exists

Pros

Great benefits, work/life balance, stock in the company

Cons

Women will never get ahead. And Chief HR person covers for bad behavior because she is friends with CEO. Sexism is alive and well in this company. If you value yourself as a woman, don't come here. If you want to be oppressed by men, deal with ignorant and offensive comments from leadership, then you'll fit right in here.
