Pros

- Great wellness benefits - Competitive pay - Ability to work remotely - Personally, I love my team - Stable job!

Cons

- Lack of management training, unclear career progression - Lack of marketing focus, ideally we have a laser focused understanding of where we are going and *how* we are getting there specifically. We push out a lot of product features that often feel rushed and not our best work, marketing-wise. We can make bigger "splashes" than a product video and an in-product callout but there doesn't seem to be a pause to really think about how to challenge ourselves to do better work - mostly because we are swamped with all of the work we already have going on. Suggestions have been brought up internally but nothing has felt like it has really changed on strategy. - Need for better cross-team collaboration and communication - often times it feels like teams don't understand each other or take the time to understand how other teams function - Crunch often, really hard to get past burnout from crunching hard for so long, even after taking weeks of PTO because you come right back into it - Questionable marketing spending on campaigns that feel like don't connect as much to users as they used to

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re sorry to hear that you feel the growth of Discord has made things such as cross-team collaboration, focus, and understanding career progression difficult. Our company is just like a product — always a work in progress. And if we make mistakes, this type of direct feedback helps us understand the situation so we can make the necessary improvements. It’s true that we’ve gone through significant change since we were a company of less than 200 people. As we continue to hit milestones as we bring Discord to more communities, we are committed to growing meaningfully and doing our very best to scale our hiring process and employee experience along the way. Our teams will take your feedback into consideration as we continue to grow and bring clarity into our processes. In addition, we encourage you to share any additional thoughts with your manager or People Partner to ensure we can take meaningful steps towards improvement. Thank you for taking the time to share with us!

Pros

- fantastically quirky and high performing culture - folks at all levels of seniority are open and genuinely interested in giving and receiving honest feedback - who you are really matters - the culture provides a space for everyone to truly bring their authentic self to work every day - a balance exists between working very healthy hours and also grinding for the cause - remote friendly culture (most employees are located outside of the Bay Area, where Discord HQ is located) - everyone throughout the company has access to, and are encouraged to consume content related to our values, vision/mission, business and monetization strategies, etc. coming from a big tech company - such access was only given to leadership.

Cons

Nothing I can think of!
