Pros

9/80 work schedule (notice that this listed as a "Pro" in 90% of the reviews? It is the ONE thing that sets Dolby apart) Competitive salary Decent benefits Great coworkers - some very smart people! Interesting work if you are in the right department

Cons

Company makes silly budget choices. For example, costly annual holiday party and annual picnic but virtual elimination of all other employee "niceties" LOTS of Prima Donnas in executive management Poor interpersonal communication across the board (hello? Staff Meetings? One on One's?) Highly charged political environment All decisions are pushed to the highest levels - employees not empowered Working from home is allowed depending on the department, but overall it is frowned upon from the top down. Internal Us/Them mentality

Pros

Every other Fridays off World Class Brand in Entertainment Some really great people Some very innovative thinkers and exceptionally smart people Idea Quest where employees get to showcase their innovative talent

Cons

Collaborative decision making - slows the process down. Ultraconservative and need to take more business risks. Listens to unqualified consultants vs qualified employees. The "that's not how we do it at Dolby" mentality. it's a new day and time for change. To much internal politics for such a small company How do people get hired as a Sr this or that? The Sr title needs to be earned unless they are truly exceptional.

Pros

Reputable brand Talented employees Exciting industry (although Dolby is missing out on the big opportunities) 9/80 work week San Francisco

Cons

Utterly clueless exec. management team, several of whom lack the qualifications, training and experience required of their roles. Decision making is glacially slow...by the time a decision has been reached, the market opportunity has been lost (Dolby's indecisiveness=Competitors gain) Talent is severely underutilized...employees brought in for their past achievements & great/creative ideas and then left to "die on the vine" once they're in their job.
