Pros

Duke Energy is a company that focuses on their values and mission. The company is aware of their employees and attempts to satisfy their needs through compensation, benefits, health and safety, and wellness. Overall the company is a great employer.

Cons

As a company advertising employee awareness, the company has some areas that need improvement. These areas are employee development and the recruiting process. There are many gaps in these processes that discourages employees and causes them to lose faith and loyalty in the company.

Pros

Duke Energy promotes progressive employment policies including diversity and strong benefits. Its leaders are honest, hardworking and worthy of loyalty.

Cons

Duke Energy is primarily a utility, so earnings growth is slow (though usually steady). Accordingly, stock appreciation will not match technology or many medical or drug companies.

Pros

The people are extraordinary (legacy Duke; not the former Progress employees who have brought in very negative elements). Great teaming, great focus on the customer at most customer facing parts of the organization but noticeably absent at critical levels.

Cons

Risk aversion nature killing innovation and suppressing the skills that are desperately needed. Duke is turning into a place that welcomes mediocrity as long as it doesn't disrupt "the ship." Really talented people in their fields would never / should never consider Duke.
