Pros

Due to Dungarvin's large scope of being over 15 states, there can be opportunities for advancement if you are willing to relocate. Misery loves company, so there are plenty of people who can relate to your poor work experience with Dungarvin. Being able to help my individuals while I'm working.

Cons

No structure whatsoever. Horrific work/life balance. DSPs are criminally underpaid. Also, there are no drug tests so unfortunately they hire the bottom of the barrel staff to work with their vulnerable population. I'm amazed by the people they hire to care for our individuals. The individuals are not well taken care of. The amount of abuse cases at this place is staggering. Program directors are extremely overwhelmed & have way too much on their plates to ensure proper oversight of the homes. Thus, staff run wild and the individuals suffer. I have complained many times to my supervisor about the level of care from co-workers and nothing ever gets done. Bad staff remain because program directors need bodies to fill shifts. The medical care is abysmal. Staff are given duties that should be done by trained medical professionals. The medication training is awful. The amount of med errors I encounter on a weekly basis is downright alarming. My co-workers do not follow proper med procedures & sometimes individuals do not receive their medications or their receive the wrong meds. Medical appointments are constantly missed and medical issues do not get reported in a timely manner. There is no nursing department. How can this happen?? Many staff like myself have to work multiple jobs to stay afloat, but we constantly get left on shift because of all the open shifts and management does not assist us. We don't know who to call because there is so much turnover with program directors. Program directors are NEVER in houses and have very little insight into the day to day activities of the houses. Dungarvin accepts individuals with extreme behaviors and are not equipped to handle them. DSPs are left alone with no support or training on how to handle high behavioral issues. The training here is a joke. Most of it is done remotely or online and is the bare minimum.
