Pros

Wellness Fridays are fun having an extra day off every month

Cons

The quest to make EDB Postgres an AI company isn't working and failing. Analytics is worst in class while Oracle to Postgres migrations is non-existent as prospects take EDB sales quote, give it to Oracle and magically get better Oracle pricing and never go with EDB Postgres, EDB needs partners for DB2 and Oracle migrations as EDB services is weak and lack talent for these complex migrations. The platform barely works and limited customers use it. High customer churn. High turnover of employees in all departments. Various and continual high turnover of sales leaders and sales types. Competitor replacement program is a disaster as truly not a like for like replacement. The product team knows it, the sales team knows it—it's not fun. Employees have been promised equity, but the company is so far away from being good and getting bought. The continual company changes, team cuts, repositions and rebrands, relaunches, and continual changing strategy shifts have not moved EDB forward; they've lost strong talent and heart in the process. The marketing team lacks real talent and energy. EDB is imploding quitely. Constantly missed sales forecasts, quarter over quarter and your smaller competitors like CrunchyData and Nano acquired by Snowflake and DataBricks should be an embarrassment as IBM will NOT acquire EDB.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience at EDB did not meet your expectations. While this review is difficult to read, we take all feedback seriously and view it as an opportunity to learn and improve. At EDB, we are on a bold journey to innovate and expand the potential of Postgres in a rapidly evolving data and AI landscape. Like any company pursuing transformation, we acknowledge there have been growing pains—including organisational changes and strategic pivots—as we build toward our long-term vision. These shifts are never taken lightly and are always made with the intention of strengthening our future. We are proud of our teams, including product, engineering, and services, who work hard to support our customers through complex challenges. While no organisation is perfect, we strive to create an environment of continuous improvement, learning, and support. The feedback around employee experience, leadership, and transparency is especially important to us, and we are actively investing in these areas. Wellness, trust, and collaboration remain key priorities across EDB. We understand that transformation brings both uncertainty and opportunity, and we remain committed to fostering a culture where our people can grow, contribute, and thrive. We encourage you to reach out to your People Partner should you wish to discuss your concerns in more detail. —The EDB Team

Pros

Most pros melted away in '23. WFH flexibility, mostly nice people and the famous Wellness Fridays are pretty much it.

Cons

The company lost its identity over the past year. Major layoff in '23, high staff attrition in '24, 90% retooled XLT in last six months and a major drift from the open source mission - has led new mgt to hang their collective hats on the next / current Big Thing (AI). None of my clients want to pay for EPAS AI toolset that they can develop for minimal cost or free - nor were they consulted. The new product rollout (still in beta, TBH) and pricing makes our solutions less competitive than last year. The CEO & CRO expect the new sales rep hires (from Oracle no less) to successfully sell 'open source' strategies to our clients? Really? We should be pushing C360 but no one wants to listen to a different long term sales approach. Churn risk is rising in this company and I don't see a path to being acquired, much less an IPO.

Pros

* Decent amount of PTO * Some smart people

Cons

* The culture is high-pressure * Leadership is poor * Direction is unclear My experience is that some managers will tell you to do things and then hang you out to dry if their guidance doesn't result in success.
