Pros
- Very casual work attire (Iitterally anything goes but sandals or shorts) - you have the opportunity to work with AMAZING (I was lucky enough to) people (non management roles) who are too good for the company . - pretty flexible schedule and decent vacation
Cons
- EVERYTHING ASIDE FROM WHAT I MENTIONED ABOVE! - Management is a joke! The owner doesn't care about employees other than his family and the corporate headquarters. All the other labs suffer and have outdated equipment that constantly goes down and sometimes just sits there until someone can come fix it (could take months). Don't worry though because they'll go and buy out a bunch of labs instead of buying new(er) equipment for their hard working analysts. - confidentiality, what's that!? If you're having an issue whether it's personal or with an other employee don't worry, your manager will go and tell everyone your business and make the situation that much worse! GOOD JOB HR!!! - this is the only place where it pays to slack off and be terrible at your job. Not only will they not fire you but they'll give you a promotion and proceed to praise you in a lab meeting. if you're a hard worker pft, good luck. Not only will you be worked to the point of having a nervous breakdown but once you have a tiny slip up its the end of world. You'll never be praised for 99.9% of work you did do right (and went above and beyond for) but you bet your sweet aunt Sally they'll tear you apart for that typo and report going out 5 minutes late. - very VERY unprofessional in all aspects of business - if a client is treating you like trash (which a lot of them do) your mangers won't have your back or help rescue you. They'll stay behind their desk and watch you drown slowly in verbal insults. - they love doing stuff the hard way like not telling clients when departments are down. Oh our scope is down? Don't worry, let the client still bring their samples here and get pissed off because now there's no way of analyzing them Until tomorrow because they need to be sent out. - no employee appreciation what so ever. Christmas time you get a $25 gift card (thanks for the gas money) other than that pretty much nothing. It's not even about being overworked and underpaid, it's being overworked and under appreciated. - forced days off without pay (unless you use your vacation) because apparently the company wasn't making enough money during winter months. Good thing they continue to buy labs in the area, glad they had money for that ! The list goes on but if this doesn't scare you, you're nuts.
