It's not worth it

Pros

The one pro I can give this company is that it is flexible. If you don't want to work a day or need time off- you just don't apply to jobs those days. But that's honestly it.

Cons

I think the biggest con is pay. Basically, with a bachelors degree I was making $10.00 an hour. That's before taxes and anything else is taken out of it. But, they made a big deal that this year they offer insurance! Well who can pay for insurance when your employees make so little? There is literally no incentive for anyone to work here. And they wonder why there is a sub shortage... but if you take a long term job (which are rare) you can make $12.00 an hour. They don't even offer basic things like bereavement. I had a family member pass, and upon asking about bereavement they said they don't offer that. What company doesn't offer the basic right to grieve for a loved one?

Pros

Flexible schedule, great way to meet wonderful people in the school system.

Cons

Poor management, recruiting strategies are antiquated. They expect you to be standing in the street passing out flyers. Management doesn't know how to lead a team. Pay is low for the amount of work they expect, and long working hours.

Pros

You can work when you want and choose what schools you want. Great way to get your foot in the door to a full time lateral entry teaching job if you have a degree but no license. I suggest subbing at as many different schools as possible so you can get a feel for what grades you'd want to teach. I also suggest building rapport with the staff. You can do that by subbing at the schools you like more often.

Cons

Teachers can cancel at the last minute but then again so can you and that only happened to me once. Depending on the county right many of the schools are just okay but I think that's most schools in general because you're a sub and the public education system isn't that great right now.
