Pros

For people like myself that like challenges, change and opportunities Eastman is a great place to work. The one thing that remains constant is change. The values on ethical behavior, transparency and sustainabiltity defined as planet, people and profit make it a company of choice for me.

Cons

Employees that give more than is required and spend a lot of their descretionary time to achieve results are often taken for granted, it almost becomes an expectation to continuously do this rather than in defined periods of time.

Pros

I have worked at Eastman for 23 years and the company has supported me and my husband in work/life balance decisions all through our careers. Eastman has a very generous interpretation of the family leave policy, allowing both me and my husband to take family leave time consecutively after the births of our children. Also, Eastman worked with me to adjust my work hours down to 25-30 hours for over 6 years while my children were young. We have both been able to work in challenging jobs that allow for advancement without requiring a lot of travel, since both the manufacturing and corporate headquarters are in Kingsport. Eastman also provides quite a lot of recreational opportunities for individuals and families (recreational club, hiking and outdoor club, photography, bridge, etc), and provides a lot of community support. Job stability is also very good. Compared to other chemical companies, Eastman has had very few layoffs in the last 10-15 years.

Cons

It is a reasonably large company, and consequently, sometimes the red tape and muliple layers of management approvals and HR policies can be frustrating, but overall I could not have picked a better place to spend my career.
