Pros

Dedicated Dining Director, fast earning of paid time off

Cons

No or low corporate report. Our ED and Dining Director are well aware of our problems in dining like, non-competitive pay for servers and endless broken equipment and advocate for us. Corporate however only sees numbers and refuses to reinvest in dining operations, equipment and staff. The suits have been down and our ED and dining director have given them tours of broken equipment, leaky ceilings and other issues that they were disgusted by the state of our kitchen and then did nothing.

Pros

Residents are what make this job. Being with these elderly folks is so rewarding and they all appreciate us medication aides.

Cons

Pay, management, hours, turnover. Watertown SD need a MAJOR change in management. Favorites are played, “coaching” employees for constantly not following policy is never followed. The management does not care or listen to its aides who do nearly 95% of the work while management sits down and dictates unrealistic work. If management changed and they gave the compensation for the work that is expected, they may start seeing a change in turnover, until then, expect to continue to lose a large amount of employees. The turn over rate is really hurting your ones who are dedicated as they are constantly expected to work on their scheduled days off... if you work at assisted living, expect to have maybe 1 day off a week and the next be cut down to 24-32 hours!
