Good place to gain experience, and then move on to a better company with better salary

Interesting work, cool projects and machines, generally nice and smart coworkers

Cons

The people running the company are based in England, and very disconnected from lab level workers in different countries where labs are located. Benefits are not great, 401k matching is just okay, and pay is low for the type of work being done. Bonuses or profit-sharing are basically non-existent with impossible targets that keep changing. Top management (outside of lab level) wastes a lot of money traveling and having fancy meetings, yet proper investments are not made in facilities or equipment, and definitely not on worker salaries. HR seems to be spread thin, and a lot of times does not seem to know what they're doing. They favor the company and are not on the employee's side. Element recently acquired Exova a competitor, and management has been secretive about what changes will be made.

Element has just gone through a large acquisition and there will be lots of opportunity for internal growth for everyone that wants to step up. Contrary to popular belief, Element pays a fair wage for the experience and education that you need to get your foot in the door. The culture is improving year after year with more internal promotions and opportunities for education reimbursements. If you’re looking to work in a dynamic atmosphere and are willing to put your head down and work hard, you will be recognized and rewarded.

Cons

Element is very customer focused and tends to be lead by the demands of the customer that yells the loudest. There is a big focus on EBITA and on time delivery. This translates into a lot of pressure for the Technicians and managers to out-perform their previous numbers month after month. There needs to be more focus on training and development in the staff to create engagement. Element needs to keep investing in their people and the profits will fallow. A happy worker is a productive worker.

Mostly friendly people. The work is not difficult

Cons

Things don't flow well. Too many chiefs and not enough indians. Push the hard working people too much rather than the ones that sit around doing nothing.
