Pros

Elevate K-12's mission is fantastic and have nuanced goals that are to impact the world of education.

Cons

-Lacks communication among departments causing chaos and disfunction -Constant turnover in leadership which normally leads to MAJOR changes in processes every couple of months (including being thrown around into different roles) -Very little chance of raise despite being a senior employee in the company -Leadership did not want to invest in efficient systems which lead to extremely manual efforts for simple tasks

Pros

Fast growing company, pay was the biggest incentive.

Cons

Watch your back. They lay off people about once a month and then repost your position 6 months later but won't ever call you back.

We're glad you enjoyed the fast-growing environment and compensation. Though it is factually inaccurate to state Elevate K-12 has frequent lay-offs, we also recognize how difficult it can be for anyone impacted by an organizational restructure and do our best to assist with the transition.

Pros

-Phenomenal, hard working people that are miserable and burnt out -Solid snacks at an overpriced office that you're forced to go into despite the entire business model pushing the importance of REMOTE work -Unlimited PTO that is contingent on your manager's approval and your ability to avoid the guilt placed upon you for taking any time off

Cons

By far THE most toxic environment I have ever encountered. Elevate is so lucky that the job market sucks right now because otherwise I am sure there would be no one left (that is, whoever is left after all the people they continue to unceremoniously layoff). This current round of leadership (*read* high turnover) is actually horrific. They do not care about the mission or the people. They make zero effort to build an actual relationship with their team members (convinced they don't even know half the people's names). They dump work on people with no clear vision of what that work is supposed to look like and then get mad when it's different than what they communicated. Their style of "leading" is just talking at/yelling at people and viewing them as numbers. They quite literally have no idea what is happening at the ground level and zero interest to learn, and none of them have an education background so they do not understand the nuances of the business model but simply want to see a high return to grow their own paychecks (and no, you won't see any of that money yourself). Middle management is BURNT while they try to protect their teams from leadership and constantly have to ask their teams to do work that is far beyond bandwidth. The people who succeed here are the most bullish ones with the loudest voices, even if what they're saying is not beneficial to the people or the company, just the bottom line. If you're considering a role here, this is your sign to run in the other direction. This place will run itself into the ground and make you a casualty. You can get cool startup experience anywhere else - the only thing you'll get from this place is a high therapist bill.
