Pros

Emory offers great benefits for their employees. Interaction with patients is great. The facilities are always clean at all campuses.

Cons

Earned PTO is used for national recognized holidays. Employees are not appreciated. The expectation is to fulfill your job role and the role of others with positions higher than yours without pay. Unorganized department, poor leadership, no one is accountable or takes their role with responsibility or integrity. Advancement is not possible unless you know someone. Heavy politics. I came to Emory because it is said that they are the best. I disagree. I am not learning I go through the motions everyday. Favoritism amongst employees. Lack of moral or motivation. Only 30 minutes for lunch.

So Far So Good

Pros

So far I have enjoyed my time at Emory. -Great benefits for those who use them -Friendly staff -Almost all of my patients have enjoyed their time at Emory

Cons

-Night shift has to go to mandatory and regularly scheduled meetings/classed during the day -Starting out as a brand new member of the healthcare field, they don't make it easy to keep up in certain conversations (orientation, classes, etc.). They use terms that I do not know yet and say things that get me lost, but that is a flaw only a small number of people have to deal with, I am sure.

Pros

You can find dedicated, respectful colleagues working against the system to make patients lives better. In Atlanta and Georgia, you can still impress other employers that you worked for Emory.

Cons

Agree with others on low pay, poor management (MD and non MD). Patients dont get quality care because of leadership/management, and docs sometimes scour for resources to help patients like in third world country where all money goes to chairs and managers for their BMWs. Emory also spends more money on PR than quality- pays PR firms to suppress/remove bad internet reviews from search results, and add positive reviews you read here. One former director of communication wrote an op-ed on how poorly patients are actually treated and she and the matter were completely silenced by Emory PR and their media connections within a day. Recently lost a malpractice suit when a young man died in the sleep lab supervised by cheap contractor - jury awarded patient's family $13 million. I have never worked for a company that spends more money presenting a fake image than fixing the real problems.
