Pros

Emory is an amazing place to work. The atmosphere is so welcoming. There’s a new VP with revenue cycle who is already making so many positive changes for the department.

Cons

Before the pandemic the only con was not being fully remote. But now most jobs have gone remote full time.

Emory Healthcare Leadership is Great, but Winship Leadership is a NIGHTMARE

Pros

Amazing and dedicated colleagues, clinical expertise, great patients, good opportunities for growth depending where you are, interesting educational opportunities

Cons

Winship seems to be run by unstable, ego-obsessed, power-hungry, irrational, temper tantrum-throwing megalomaniacs. The senior leadership (VP and Director Level) never seems to be on the same page. Staff constantly hear rumors of petty fighting, power moves, disrespect, and irrational behavior between leaders, all which trickle down to affect front line staff. People just want to be able to do their jobs and do them well. Senior Leadership seem to require a constant ego-stroking and tip-toeing around explosive personalities. It is a major and significant barrier to positive workplace culture and patient-centered care. Communication during the COVID-19 crisis has been good from Emory Healthcare but fractious, confusing, and frustrating from Winship. During a time when everyone needs support (patients and staff alike), Winship leadership has managed to make their staff feel like second-class citizens who are disposable and dispensable. Staff do not feel heard, cared for, or emotionally prepared to weather the long term storm that will come with COVID-19.

Looks good on your resume, that's all

Pros

Decent benefits, health programs, 401k

Cons

Promotions/Upper job opportunities are non existent if you're not the right skin color. Low pay, even with experience. Management in several depts will block you from moving. Decatur Plaza is the worst! Recent college grads with no job experience receive training from seasoned staff with several yrs experience and will move right into mgmt, overlooking qualified staff. PTO/holiday pay in one bank. Holidays come out of your PTO. Get the experience and move on.
