At least for US employees, a great, stable place to work from home - Rater Appen Employee Review

Pros

Although telecommuters are initially hired for projects that may end within a year or six months, usually they are kept on year after year if metrics are met. Very flexible work schedule - can work anytime during the day as long as you get in your mandatory 4 hours. Don't have to complete 4 hours in one session. Easy to ask for time off if necessary. Direct Deposit at the end of the month. Never an issue with getting paid on time. All work is done on computer without having to take phone calls (100% non-phone job). Can work from any state and several countries. If a project is cancelled or terminated, management will try to put workers on other projects

Cons

The work can be very isolating. Supervisors could respond a bit quicker to questions but are often delayed by the client. Project guidelines change a lot so you need to be flexible or this job will frustrate you very quickly. Although salary is higher than some other work at home jobs, it is not as high as it used to be. You are an independent contractor - must make sure you save enough from your paycheck to pay income tax. No benefits. May be difficult to qualify as a rater for the company. No real chance to advance if you don't live near a corporate office. Can be stressful if you can't "go with the flow." Can only work part time if telecommuting.

Pros

The work tasks are relatively clear, and my colleagues are very friendly and always offer help when I don't understand something. The company's policies and culture are also very transparent.

Cons

Sometimes due to urgent work delivery timelines.

Pros

Working at home on the computer.

Cons

Lack of proper communication. No phone communication whatsoever, only by sending in tickets and emails. They hired me for a project for me to review advertisements and I worked hard at this task and always looked back at the materials as a guideline to keep all my answers as per how they want them to be. However, this was not good enough for them and I was retested. Of course, I knew they would fail the retest and fire me immediately. In addition, I have been putting in my house on my time sheet and they have not paid me once. They claim I will be paid for the hours I billed for but I have not seen any money yet. I am giving up on seeing any pay and my working with Appen has been a total waste of my time when I could have been putting in my efforts working for someone else.
