Pros
Your fellow workers tend to be a diverse bunch: often international students with lots of bright ideas and interesting experiences. The pay is competative, the benefits too. Good staff discount.
Cons
Bonuses now 50/50 sales and customer service: however the customer service score is compiled from responses to surveys handed out randomly at till points. If your role is not one which involves standing at the till all day, you have little chance of receiving specific feedback. You could be working your hardest and giving 100% excellent customer service and smashing your sales target: but if the person on the till is a grumpy so and so your bonus is effected too. Store management often have very little understanding of the realities on the shop floor. Targets and intiatives descend from on high, and little attention is paid to the views of store workers. Some struggle to work the tills, and show little knowledge of store lay out or products. Scope for progression/additional training very much depends on the whims of management. Staff areas are windowless, airless and clinical. The piped music is inane, as are often the customers: but that's just retail generally.
