Pros

The people at BSSF are caring and great to work with! There are clear guidelines about important policies such as when busy season starts and ends, hours requirements, and benefits. You learn a lot and get to see most areas of the engagement. There is a fun committee and a social committee that plans fun events which show that the firm cares about it’s people. The managers are flexible with hours if you have to work around appointments or things that come up in your personal life.

Cons

Busy season you are required to work a minimum of 55 hours including working weekends, the 401k match and vacation time are lower than average, employees are promoted based on length of time at the firm rather than merit and work ethic

Pros

Very supportive and inclusive environment. Received exposure to several industries and gained extensive knowledge through working in these industries

Cons

A bit top heavy in the sense that there were more partners than managers, so the managers seemed to be stretched thin at times, but that’s probably common within the industry

Pros

Lots of company food days during Tax Season. People are generally friendly.

Cons

The people who know what they're doing don't stick around. The people who have the most longevity are hesitant to answer basic process questions, and also don't know who should be able to answer the question. Procedures are not documented or easy to locate; between incomplete SOP documents, an Intranet, and internal server storage, it takes a very long time to get an answer to simple procedure questions. Management publicly requests feedback and engagement but the staff with longevity know to not speak up.
