Pros

Flexible hours and some decent employee events (golf outings). Nice office.

Cons

Bottom of the barrel benefits, insincere coworkers and management, overworked employees. This company takes advantage of the fact that audits are required by law and charge completely ridiculous prices for their service. You feel as if you are doing your clients a disservice

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. We are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve as an employer. We look at our benefit offerings several times per year to ensure our program is comparable to our competitors; and we are. We have extremely low employee monthly medical contribution rates (less than $20) and did you know that there is no cost to an employee for vision or dental? In addition to standard benefits, BSSF offers many extras and a fun working environment from the efforts of the Fun, Wellness and Social committees! The firm takes pride in our culture and welcomes any suggestions that come forward through quarterly staff meetings, anonymous suggestions, and true open door policies right up to our president. We like to promote from within and in addition to the bi-annual career counseling meetings, we have developed career paths for each staff to follow so that they know how they can work to advance in their career. Our managers and principals are eager to assist staff to reach their full potential and advance within our firm. We hold very high standards of our employees and require the highest quality for our clients. Unfortunately, as with any public accounting firm, there will be busy times in order to meet client and tax deadlines. As you mentioned, we have flexible working hours and we have recently hired many new 1-4 year staff to help facilitate better work flow and balance. Again, thank you for your feedback.

Pros

Very supportive and inclusive environment. Received exposure to several industries and gained extensive knowledge through working in these industries

Cons

A bit top heavy in the sense that there were more partners than managers, so the managers seemed to be stretched thin at times, but that’s probably common within the industry

Pros

Lots of company food days during Tax Season. People are generally friendly.

Cons

The people who know what they're doing don't stick around. The people who have the most longevity are hesitant to answer basic process questions, and also don't know who should be able to answer the question. Procedures are not documented or easy to locate; between incomplete SOP documents, an Intranet, and internal server storage, it takes a very long time to get an answer to simple procedure questions. Management publicly requests feedback and engagement but the staff with longevity know to not speak up.
