Pros

Dire Wolf has a lot going for it. It's bigger than most "indie" studios, but much smaller than major publishers -- so there's both room to stand out and resources available to help you grow in your skill-set and career. There's a great gamer culture of people with a deep, lifelong appreciation of card games, tabletop RPGs, video games, board games, MMOs -- you name it. As a studio, DWD is equipped to do basically everything in-house, so there's a deep cross-disciplinary roster of incredibly talented people, from artists and engineers to game designers, producers and QA. The team reflects a wide range of career levels, from senior management with decades of experience, to mid-career folks drawn from a variety of backgrounds, to entry level employees learning the ropes in their first job in the gaming industry. The biggest draw, for me, is that your personal affinity for games is a huge asset when it comes to both connecting with colleagues and engaging with the work we do. Whether you're the most casual mobile gamer or a world-class CCG pro (we've got both), games, art, stories, and overall nerd culture are a fundamental part of what ties the office culture together. It helps to genuinely love the things you spend your time making. Dire Wolf makes some pretty fun stuff, then works really hard to iteratively make it even better.

Cons

There are often a bunch of cooks in any given kitchen, and you need both a thick skin in terms of receiving feedback and a willingness to revise, adjust, and adapt. If you're sure that your first idea, or your second, or your third is the "one true way" to get something done, you might get frustrated when others don't share your particular vision. Internal information trends toward being fairly compartmentalized, and not everyone has access to a "big picture" view of what's going on or why certain decisions get made. If you need a more holistic view to feel positively engaged, you could end up feeling out-of-the-loop.

Pros

Dire Wolf employs some very talented designers and engineers. There is a lot to learn from this team.

Cons

The work is fairly consistent in theming. If you like board games, this is a fantastic place to work. If not, it might be something you get tired of.

Pros

Good company and good people working here. Flexibility with remote work is nice. New projects to work on often which helps with project fatigue.

Cons

Communication up the chain isn't always the best. Personal salary growth is really difficult here.
