Pros
The salary and insurance are very good. Particularly for a college graduate without prior QA experience. The medical insurance covers therapy, which is especially wonderful considering if you didn’t need it before you’ll need it during/after your time at Epic.
Cons
Epic’s response to covid has been abhorrent. They’ve failed to acknowledge their past mistakes and failed to apologize to employees. This is part of a larger systemic issue in the company- management doesn’t care about the humanity, health, or well-being of employees. Employees are completely disposable. The QA division was recently merged with technical communications and now overseen by implementation. In short, it makes little sense. The division is now managed by people who (even months later) clearly haven’t made even minimal effort to understand what QA is, what our day-to-day looks like, or what processes we need to follow. Epic claims to have a “feedback culture.” This couldn’t be further from the truth. On Google you can find a CBS news story about how Epic ignored employee concerns about returning to campus during covid. We have experienced the same thing with the division restructuring. You can raise concerns to your TL, but they ultimately will most likely not bring those concerns elsewhere. Voicing concerns can often mean you end up with a reputation of someone who isn’t “solutions oriented.” In short, management welcomes feedback so long as it is surface-level and positive.
