Pros
You'll get an opportunity to break into healthcare IT. Technical Services at Epic is largely a meritocracy, where you can come in with no background knowledge, an the rest will be on you to learn. It has a steep learning curve but is not impossible, you just need to be dedicated. With can be given opportunities to advance fairly quickly due to high turnover.
Cons
Work life balance is a function of your specific team lead and how much you're willing to juke your time logging hours. Management will monitor how many hours you log. If you log under 40 you get a talking to. If you log under 45 they ask you to do more work. High turnover. Treated employees awfully during COVID and asked them to return to the office, despite us being a healthcare software company. Turnover was always high, now it's astronomical as quarantine winds down. No opportunity for remote work unless you want to take a pay cut, work as a contractor, and sacrifice your best benefits. Leadership is knee-deep in hubris and will gaslight employees before admitting they ever did something wrong. Leadership pretends to be cute and fuzzy, but it is actually ruthless once you get close to Judy. Principles matter less and people are not particularly empathetic at the top.
